Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Management Team to ensure compliance with Federal and State Guidelines, Head Start Performance Standards, and Agency / Program Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation of personnel within the assigned service area.
  • Manages the coordination of Component services with all staff to ensure efficient implementation of Head Start objectives and work plans.
  • Supervises all Head Start/Early Head Start staff in assigned service areas and will assist in yearly evaluations. Provides the coordination and assists with the communication and integration of Head Start/Early Head Start activities and services in program operations.
  • Provides leadership in working with Head Start/Early Head Start parent committees, Policy Council, and Advisory Boards; provides leadership in working with staff, parents, and community in understanding Head Start/Early Head Start services and in developing support for program goals and activities.
  • Demonstrates work habits that comply with agency personnel policies and procedures, and complete special assignments from the Head Start Director and Management Team.
  • Adheres to strict confidentiality and professional practices.
  • Completes and submits site evaluations and monitoring reports as requested to the Director and Management Team.

  • To provide safe transportation for Head Start children on the morning and afternoon bus route and on field trips.
  • Keep bus clean and in safe working condition at all times.

  • Assist the Teacher in supervision of the children in the classroom, playground, and on field trips.
  • Train children and their families about safety habits for boarding, riding and exiting bus.
  • Be alert of and meet the special needs of children in route to and from the center.
  • Schedule routine maintenance and/or service of vehicle to ensure it remains in good operating condition.
  • Perform daily safety checks/pre-trip inspections.
  • Keep accurate mileage and maintenance reports to assure accountability for use of buses.
  • Complete pre-trip and bus log reports to ensure the safety of the children.
