Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in delivering educational, developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children.
  • Provides supervision of children in the classroom, the playground, and on field trips.
  • May be the immediate supervisor of other center staff in the absence the teacher.
  • Assists in organizing the classroom and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Observes, assesses, refers, and evaluates each child’s progress in the assigned classroom, and assists in planning and implementing classroom activities based on individual needs of the children to advance physical and intellectual competence.
  • Assists in promoting social and emotional development of children, and in maintaining classroom discipline using positive guidance techniques.
  • Assists in maintaining records and submits reports as required; attends meetings and required training.
  • Assist with home visits and/or parent-teacher conferences as required
  • Assists with parent meetings, and maintains positive communication with parents and community participants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Teacher in program planning for children with disabilities and implement activities to assist children in meeting goals.
  • Complete speech/language screenings on each newly enrolled child.
  • Assist LEA staff in obtaining needed paperwork to complete evaluations when warranted.
  • Document children’s services and contacts.
  • Provide direct speech and language or other therapy activities as directed.
  • Assist with scheduling IEP meetings - will attend or cover the classroom so Teacher may attend.
  • Ability to work with Teachers, Family Service Workers, and school system personnel to assist in obtaining child and family goals.
  • Assist in delivery of services to children with disabilities and their families.
  • Assist with kindergarten transition activities.

  • Must pass a DOT physical examination and TB screen.
  • Criminal background and driving record (IMVR) checks required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide safe transportation for Head Start children on the morning and afternoon bus route and on field trips.
  • Keep bus clean and in safe working condition at all times.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Assist the Teacher in supervision of the children in the classroom, playground, and on field trips.
  • Train children and their families about safety habits for boarding, riding and exiting bus.
  • Be alert of and meet the special needs of children in route to and from the center.
  • Schedule routine maintenance and/or service of vehicle to ensure it remains in good operating condition.
  • Perform daily safety checks/pre-trip inspections.
  • Keep accurate mileage and maintenance reports to assure accountability for use of buses.
  • Complete pre-trip and bus log reports to ensure the safety of the children.
